My client is an established, full service legal firm that now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Residential Conveyancer / Fee Earner to join their team. This role is being offered on either a full-time or part-time basis with hybrid and remote working also options.


Role responsibilities:

  • Managing your own caseload of residential conveyancing files, producing your own letters, file notes and documents
  • Attending meetings and negotiations with clients and other professionals, preparing accurate notes of meeting, recording time and proactively actioning any follow up steps in a timely manner
  • Handling initial enquiries and instructions by telephone
  • Advising clients on the law and legal issues relating to their case
  • Drafting letters and documents tailored to the client’s individual needs and corresponding directly with clients and opposing Solicitors, ensuring accuracy of information and grammatical content sent out
  • Preparing documents for the Land Registry
  • Negotiating with clients and third parties to secure agreed objectives
  • Researching and analysing documents, regulations and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice and procedure
  • Accurately time-recording
  • Proactively working with your line Manager in relation to- control of work in progress, billing and maximising recovery of fees in order to meet your KPI targets
  • Deputise for colleagues when reasonably required to do so
  • Performing fee earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the Company’s quality risk management procedures
  • Be effective in developing new work from existing clients and proactive in seeking new clients for yourself and other departments
  • Support marketing initiatives, including attending Company functions, networking events and team-building events
  • Keep up to date with changes and developments in your area of law via department meetings, courses, updates and ensuring compliance with CPD requirements if appropriate
  • Comply with the rules and guidance set out in the Office Manual and associated Policies
  • Have a good understanding of SRA Regulations and Compliance responsibilities


Person specification:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience handling your own residential sales and purchase cases from start to finish
  • Drafting of Contracts, Land Registry and HMRC documents
  • Experience with new build, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, leasehold and shared ownership properties would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience working on a case management system
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • A hard working, proactive and driven attitude
  • To be fully conversant with Microsoft Office
