My client has been established for over 30 years and are a market leader within the builder’s merchant trade industry. They currently employ over 60 staff across multiple sites and have built a fantastic reputation for providing quality products to the building trade industry. Due to on-going expansion, they now have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to be based at their London Colney site in St Albans.

 

Role responsibilities:

  • Liaise with key company employees to determine their product needs
  • Monitor business trends and product availability to pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
  • Nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best value for the company
  • Identifies and researches potential new suppliers
  • Research new products and services to meet company’s common goals
  • Assess total costs of companies purchases
  • Work independently on your own initiative as well as effectively as part of a wider team

 

Essential requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Purchasing Manager, ideally within the building/construction industry
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Comfortable working within a targeted environment
  • Excellent communication – both written and verbal
  • Top class organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to fit to the needs of the business
  • Analytical, with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Computer literate
  • Take ownership, be accountable, passionate, motivated and committed to your work
  • Strong team player

 

What’s on offer:

  • Competitive base salary from £40k to £50k per annum depending on experience
  • Quarterly bonus based on company performance
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday 7am – 4:30pm. You must be able to commit to these working hours (42.5 hours per week)
